Film: CAPTAIN SCARLET - 8 episodes

CAPTAIN SCARLET - 8 episodes, 1968. While exploring Mars, a crew from earth comes across a complex constructed in a crater. Mistaking a camera for a weapon, the crew opens fire and destroys the complex, only to have it reappear a few moments later. A voice from nowhere, refering to itself as the voice of the Mysterons, claims that the earthman have committed an act of war against these normally peaceful beings and a war of nerves has begun. The voice somehow takes control one of the crew, aptly named Captain Black, and various terrorist like activities commence back on earth.

The series deals with a world intelligence organization, called Spectrum where all members are named after colors. With various vehicles hidden around the globe, Spectrum's main task is to counter the Mysteron threat (what they did before that is anyone's guess!).

The Mysterons (never seen, so you don't know if they're invisible, just computers or pure thought energy) have the ability to reconstruct an item or person, but only after it is destroyed or killed first. Why they were able to do it to Captain Black without killing him first in the premier episode is never explained. In the first episode Captain Scarlet is killed, taken over to assassinate the President and falls off a towering car park. But for some odd reason the Mysterons release control over him, but he retains the ability to heal himself at an alarming rate. Rejoing Spectrum, Captain Scarlet tries to counter the Mysteron threat.

The real kicker to this series is that the good guys don't always win. Its about a 70/30 split in favor of the Mysterons.
