| Matthew Hawkins |
Matthew Hawkins hails from the Pacific Northwest and came to New
York to study cartooning and film production at the School of Visual
Arts in Manhattan. Soon after graduation, Matt became the head game
designer for Ubi Soft New York, one of the world's most acclaimed
and successful game companies today. There he designed and developed
a number of games for the internet and major gaming consoles, consulted
on various other titles in development. and conducted research to
forecast future trends in gaming technology and tastes. Shortly after
Ubi Soft, Matt began designing games independently and eventually
formed PixelJump to create games on cell phones and other mobile
devices. Matt also became involved with video game journalism and
now writes for Nickelodeon Magazine and GMR, among other publications.
And coming this summer, he'll be teaching a course on history and
exploration of video game design at his alma mater, School of Visual
Arts.
