Children's Programming

Got kids? Bring them with you!

Children's Programming returns with renewed vigor and exciting new activities. While these activities are designed for 4-12 year olds, feel free to bring the whole family. (Just remember that a parent must remain with children at all times.) But don't fear - this year we are planning on activities for parents as well!

Join the crew of the S.S. Phoenix on its voyage through the Anime Confederation. We will also make a stop into our own history. The goal of Children's Programming is to bring I-CON to our smallest and most important family members. We will take all the genres of I-CON and present them in a way that makes sense, and is interesting to both of you. There is absolutely no reason our children cannot share our fun! Science, science fiction, anime, medievalism, and even gaming can be given to our children. We will be running RPG's and maybe even a LARP for young children (6-12), anime and Sci-Fi themed crafts, and interactive lessons on our own history with the medievalist group Dragonwynde!

FIRST LEGO League will also be staging a demonstration and workshop - create & build an autonomous robot. Read more about it here.

And don't forget about our activities for parents! While still in the planning stages, we do have some in the works. Ever wonder what gaming or medievalism was really about? Or if it was age appropriate for your child? What animes are safe to let your child watch and which ones aren't? You may be surprised. What fantasy or Sci-Fi books are recommended for young children? We will be holding discussions on all of these topics and more! Any ideas for other activities for parents? Just let me know! Volunteers are also welcome!

Aside from activities, there will be coloring sheets and art supplies for quiet times. There will also be a toy area with anime and Sci-Fi themed toys, old and new. We may also be showing old Sci-Fi and fantasy cartoons between activities. Children's Programming will be open from 6pm-9pm on Friday, 11am-6pm on Saturday, and 11am-5pm on Sunday.

If you have any suggestions or would like to help out, please contact me at childrens_programming@iconsf.org. We can't wait to hear from you!
