Cosplay is a perennial anime convention favorite. See your fellow con goers dressed up as your favorite characters - from any genre! Years prior this competition has been Japanese oriented only, this year however we are opening it up to anyone - as long as the character or the design exists in print somewhere.

If you have yet to see one live, make sure you make it to the I-CON 27 Cosplay Competition! This event is scheduled on Saturday, with the awards ceremony occurring shortly afterward.

If you want to have your costume judged but don't have a skit idea, then the Cosplay Fashion Show is for you! The Cosplay Fashion Show will take place right after the Cosplay Contest, prior to the awards ceremony.

If you just want to cosplay around the convention areas and have no intention of participating in either contest, you do not need to register. Cosplay is being used here to refer to the on-stage contest or fashion show, not cosplaying in general.

Films

Anime showings at I-CON this year will be unlike those ever seen before! We start with our Friday of shows that are not even animated but are still damned entertaining. I-CON 27 presents year one of Asian Cinema Fridays! We start with a cult classic and one of the more unique Toho Kaiju films: Frankenstein Conquers the World (also known as Frankenstein Vs. Baragon)! It's a clash of cultures as Western literature's original monstrosity battles it out with the East's Baragon in his original, cinematic appearance.

Following the battle of the century is enough battles to fill a century: Riki-Oh: The Story of Riki! Corny, senseless violence senselessly violates the senses. Also, punching and attempted intestinal asphyxiation. Good times! Thanks to Media Blasters and Tokyo Shock! for our ability to show these gems!

Rounding out the night is Azumi, the story of a ninja in training faced with many difficult choices. Forced into the trade when her mother is killed, Azumi faces many hardships in her upbringing as an assassin. After completing her training and her first "mission," she clashes with a mentally unstable mercenary in a battle to the death. This tale of deceit and decapitation is brought to you buy Urban Vision Entertainment and AsiaVision! Watch out for the sequel, Azumi 2, out on DVD May 6th from Urban Vision Entertainment!"

On the anime front, in celebration of I-CON's Pirate theme, we present the new, One Piece Movie The Desert Princess and the Pirates—Adventures in Alabasta! For those of you on the opposite side of the coin in the eternal battle of pirates vs. ninjas, we'll also be showing Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow! Of course, we'll still have a slew of titles both old and new to satisfy even the most discriminating palate.

Also, robots. Lots of robots.
