MISSION STATEMENT

Friends of Lulu is a national, not-for-profit organization with the goal of bringing more women and girls into the ever-expanding comic book industry as professionals and readers, through various events, mentoring programs and publications.

Women and Comics: Rocking the Web and the World Friends of Lulu is proud to celebrate this amazing, successful time for female comic book creators. Rachel Kadushin and Michele Witchipoo will present their intriguing, brand-new Webcomic, Unplain Jane, while Valerie D'Orazio, Friends of Lulu's national president and popular comic book blogger (OccasionalSuperheroine.blogspot.com), will reveal which works by women are worth watching. Lulu Jeopardy! Comics Trivia Game Show Prove your knowledge of all kinds and levels of comic book trivia in this wild game show, and win fun prizes. Some audience members can win prizes, too! [Saturday]

Make-your-own-minicomics Workshop Cartoonist Tim Kelly (Zook and Max) and educator Michael Grassia will teach you how to create your own minicomic in one of I-CON's always popular programs. All supplies are provided; just bring some creativity. Bonus: Sunday's two-hour workshop includes a cartooning lesson! Saturday's program is one hour.
