An author, lecturer and Long Island native covering the crossroads between high tech and popular culture. His next book, Homemade Hollywood: Fans Behind The Camera, forthcoming from Continuum in June, 2008, is the first to explore the rich history of fan films. He has been interviewed by the London Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsday and other outlets as an expert on the subject, and ran 'Mos Eisley Multiplex,' the first website devoted to fan films, from 1998-2000; during that time, USA Today named it a 'Hot Site of the Day.' He will appear in the upcoming documentary, JEDI JUNKIES, discussing the cultural consequences of fan productions.

While covering the music industry as the senior editor of Pro Sound News since 1994, he has also written for MTV, VH1, American Songwriter, Music Business International, Wine Enthusiast and other outlets. His first book, Crank It Up (2004), profiled the world's top roadies, receiving strong reviews from Billboard and Hit Parader, as well as specialist press. Young is also an in-demand speaker, having lectured at dozens of universities, libraries and conventions, as well as appearing as a guest on radio shows across the U.S. and Canada.
